Active Planet Kids is the publisher of the award-winning Summer Fit Activities series, a set of grade-appropriate summer activity workbooks designed to help children retain learning over the summer through the combination of academic, fitness, and values lessons. Created by a team of experts in education, nutrition, and fitness, this “Whole-Child” Approach has helped hundreds of thousands of children reach their full potential in the school year ahead.
Founded in 2008 by George Starks, a highly respected educational publisher, the company is injecting new energy into these summer education resources, carrying on the legacy of the founder after his untimely passing in 2017. Active Planet Kids is focused on the mission to support parents and teachers in keeping student’s brains, bodies and spirits growing all summer long.
Lisa Roberts
Lisa Roberts has been both a Registered Nurse and certified Public Health Nurse for almost twenty years. A graduate of Southwestern College and San Diego State University, Roberts is currently completing a Master of Science degree in Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion at Mississippi State University. A Public Health Nurse for the County of San Diego for thirteen years, Roberts was the local lead for The Communities of Excellence in Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention (CX3), a two-city pilot project to measure and improve nutrition in low-income neighborhoods. A contributor to the fitness and nutrition sections of the Summer Fit Activities workbook series, Roberts lives in San Diego with her family.
James Cordova
James Cordova has spent the last twenty-six years coaching football, track, basketball and softball, with sixteen of those years as Head Coach. He was the 2014 Nike Coach of the Year Designee and 2013 and 2014 Coach of the Year presenter. Cordova was honored as Utah Football Coach of the Year in 2007, 2013 and 2014. He has also served as a Physical Education teacher for 16 years and has additional experience as a teacher, counselor and program coordinator. In his free time James likes to mountain bike, ski, work out at the gym and spend time with friends and family.
